Intention
You will benefit even more from the DailyAffirm Process if you establish an intention for your exploration of each month’s theme. In fact, I prefer to call it an "over-arching" intention so that you think of it more as a strong intention that arches over the whole month or over your whole life.
Your over-arching intention is a statement that guides your thoughts and actions related to the theme. Intention is the energy or consciousness from which actions emerge.
If you are uncertain how to write this intention, just make an attempt. Keep it simple. As you work with the intention, the theme, the affirmations, and the suggested exercises, let the statement of your over-arching intention change and deepen.
Here are a few suggestions for statements of over-arching intention:
- For the theme of Freedom:
“To realize freedom on all levels of my being.” Or,
“To live each moment free and freely.” - For the theme of Love:
“My intention is to love myself.” Or,
“To live in the consciousness of unconditional love.” - For the theme of Peace:
“To see peace everywhere.” Or,
“I know that world peace is a personal choice.”
As you can see, these statements are brief, simple, and broad. You may find you want to supplement the over-arching intention with additional goals and objectives, dreams and desires, action plans and strategies. The over-arching intention can be valid for years, even your whole lifetime; the supplemental approaches must change as soon as they are fulfilled.
